Tank Arrival

Upon arrival at the company, tanks destined for refurbishment are placed in a specific dedicated area. After checking the documentation, each tank is assigned a unique barcode, necessary to guarantee traceability during all subsequent processing phases. Subsequently, certified personnel perform an initial visual inspection aimed at excluding the presence of defects such as pitting, evident anomalies on the welds, dents, shape alterations, or other malformations.

01

Decontamination and hydraulic test

The tanks are positioned on the ramp and subjected to decontamination in compliance with the standards required by current legislation, regarding both safety and environmental matters. At the end of the decontamination, an initial hydraulic test is carried out. Subsequently, the tanks are divided by owner company and tank type and stored awaiting processing.

02

Thermal stripping and pre-sandblasting

Before being processed, tanks coated with epoxy paint are completely stripped using a controlled thermal stripping process in a semi-automatic pyrolytic oven. Immediately after, they undergo a pre-sandblasting phase. The combination of these two processes allows the tank to be returned to its raw metal state and enables qualified operators to perform a further visual inspection.

At the end of this phase, a certified operator performs non-destructive testing.

03

Modification and welding

The tanks then return to production for the restoration of studs, hooks, anchoring eyelets, and potentially the support feet, or for a change of intended use—for example, from above-ground to underground where the bottom plug is sealed by welding. The tanks are then subjected to non-destructive testing.

03

Sandblasting and Painting

The final phase of sandblasting and painting takes place in a highly automated plant, capable of guaranteeing high quality standards. The guaranteed sandblasting grade is Sa 2.5, ensuring proper surface preparation and perfect application of the coating. Painting is mainly carried out with powder products, which allow for reduced atmospheric emissions and guarantee greater resistance and durability over time compared to previous generation products. In the coating cycles, the thickness of the applied film is defined based on the tank’s destination and the required technical specifications: for underground tanks with epoxy coating, it is greater than 500 μm, while for above-ground tanks, it is greater than 120 μm.

04

Accessory assembly

The final phase of the production process is entrusted to operators who handle the assembly of new valves and the accessories requested by the destination customer. Through the tank’s barcode, the relevant identification data is retrieved and the Sinco plate is produced, certifying its refurbishment.

05

Finished goods storage and testing

Once the production cycle is complete, the tanks are stored in the finished products area, ready for shipment. The final phase includes testing by an external notified body, the issuance of the new logbook, and the registration of data on the CIVA portal.

innovations

We improve the production cycle

Our investments have led us to have an innovative production cycle focused on quality.

Sinco was the first LPG tank company in Italy to…

Use an automatic shot blasting machine for more homogeneous tank sandblasting processes ensuring a cleanliness degree of> SA 2.5

Invest in powder coating processes on tanks for more durable and homogeneous painting with superior corrosion resistance and lower environmental impact

Design and have built a 32 cubic meter pyrolytic oven for the complete paint removal of the tank before starting the refurbishment process – to date the largest in the sector
